International Womens Day Tour

Join us at Oxford Castle & Prison this International Women’s Day as we celebrate the stories of some of the most influential women in the Castle & Prison’s history!

On the evening of Saturday 8th March, we’ll be honouring the women connected to the site throughout its 1000 year history and sharing their awe-inspiring stories.

From Empress Matilda who was the inspiration behind George R.R. Martin’s Rhaenyra Targaryen, to the true romantic and political campaigner Elizabeth Lilburne, there’s so many women to discover including Oxfordshire’s own Ascott Martyrs, 16 women imprisoned  here for picketing during a strike by farm hands.

Visit International Women’s Day for our special guided tour and discover how incredible women shaped history, in Oxford, England and abroad.
